At the
Radio 1 station they use man y tools to help them with the production overall,
so the show is ready in time for it to be aired. Such as:

Workstation: this is where all the equipment is
kept and where they record there shows as you can see in the image above. At :

Microphones: it is used to capture audio so we
can hear the presenters’ dialogue clearly without any background noises.

Computer: this is used for storing and
processing data, these programs enable computers to perform wide range of
tasks.

CD player: is a device that plays audio compact
discs, which are a digital optical disc data storage format.
·
Headphones: this can be used to listen to audio
signals such as music or speech.
·
Mini disc: is a magneto-optical disc-based data
storage format offering a capacity of 60, 74 minutes and, later, 80 minutes, of
digitized audio of Hi-MD data.

Control pad: is a pad is a type of game
controller held in two hands, where the fingers are used to provide input.
·
DJ controller: this is used to adjust the speed
of a song and to do this they spin the wheel either clockwise or
anti-clockwise.
Playlist - The
employees on the playlist committee have to choose around 40 records each week
for repeated daytime play where they need to play these chosen songs within a
certain time (A-list records get 25 plays a week, B-list 15, and C-list eight
to 10). Then after deciding if they should keep current play listed tracks, the
discussions moves on to new additions they can add to the playlist. People can
listen to posted playlists or they can listen to it live if they download the
Radio 1 app. And this app makes it easier for people to use as they can listen
to Radio 1 on their phones anywhere.
Digital Playout – a playout
is a system which includes all the sounds and jingles they need for that show
which is all downloaded and ready to be played. They can also set a timer for
when it must be played so they don’t a DJ when recording the show.
Digital Cartwall – is jingle player which offers a multiple pages of instant audio
buttons which have pre-recorded the previous night, ready for quick playback.
They can also be played in background during a conversation. There are usually
around 56 audio buttons per page which include a variety of adverts, jingles
and songs.
